Activities
Dozens of adventure companies are based nearby.
Rivers
The most popular activity is kayaking down the Sella river in a tandem, open canoe following the course of the famous Descenso de Sella race which takes part each summer from Arriondas towards Ribadasella.
This is a relaxing and really enjoyable day. The water is very gentle and it’s an activity that can be enjoyed by all ages. On anything, other than the busiest days in high season, you will have the opportunity to sit back and take in the impressive mountains above you, farmers going about their work and local birdlife swooping in front of you.
Canyoning & Rafting are also options if you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous.
Wheel Based
Asturias is a motorcyclists paradise with relatively little traffic, smooth curvy roads and stunning scenery.
Road-tripping by car is also a great way to maximise sight seeing with highlights such as the Fitu View point or a trip right around the Picos.
If you’re looking for some off-road action local companies offer 4×4 routes in the heart of the mountains or maybe you want to get closer to the action (and mud!) with a quad bike excursion.
The area also has endless options for cyclists whether that’s road biking routes such as the famous Vuelta route up to the Lakes of Covadonga or some more extreme mountain biking. Local companies offer bike hire.

Ocean
There are some great spots for surfing along the North Atlantic coast at locations such as Ribadasella and Vega beach. Rodiles slightly further West is also a very popular spot.
Local companies in Ribadasella also offer speed-boat rides, jet-ski trips or paddle surfing where you can get up close to the towering cliffs and into some stunning caves.
Mountains
As well as endless walks, dependent on the season, other ways to enjoy the mountains include snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, zip-wiring, rock-climbing and caving.
